LUNAR SEAS
Piano, Four Hands
In 1651 the Italian astronomer, Riccioli, bestowed romantic Latin names on the moon's maria, or "seas." The compositions in this set were named after five of these "seas."
The music was composed in 1976 for two guitars. In 1978 I made this piano - four hands arrangement for Joan Ball and Helen Twiss. The score was revised in February 2003. The hand written guitar duet score is also available. Page size: 8.5” by 11”. TWENTY-TWO PAGES. Performance time is about 13 minutes. Included below is a recording of the five pieces followed by the first page of each piece. The complete score is $9.00. |
I made the recording with a Teac 3340 S open reel tape deck using two Shure SM34 microphones, later converted to digital and mastered using Audacity, then converted to MP3 using FreeMake video and audio converter.
Many thanks to Helen Twiss and Joan Ball for this skillful and sensitive rendition recorded in 1978.
